Parallel

Parallel basic parallel/basic

Parallel basic. Available through Mux with the same request and response shape as every other model, at Parallel’s list price.

Call it

curl https://api.getmux.io/v1/search \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $MUX_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"query": "open source vector databases", "model": "parallel/basic", "max_results": 10}'

What a request costs

Each request includes 10 results. Results beyond 10 cost $0.001 each, billed on what the provider returns and never on more than you asked for. Requests that fail are refunded.

Use it with a fallback

Put parallel/basic first and a model from another provider after it. If Parallel errors or times out, Mux refunds the attempt and tries the next one. You pay for the model that answered.

const res = await mux.search({
  query: "open source vector databases",
  models: ["parallel/basic","exa/instant"], // tried in order
});
console.log(res.model, res.attempts);

Parallel basic FAQ

How much does parallel/basic cost per search?

$0.0050 per request with up to 10 results ($5.00 per 1,000 requests). Each result beyond 10 adds $0.001, billed on the results the provider returns. Failed calls are refunded.

Is there a markup on Parallel's price?

No. Mux passes through Parallel's list price per request. The only fee is 5.5% (minimum $0.80) when you buy credits, or 5% of list price after 1,000,000 monthly requests when you bring your own Parallel key.

Can I use my own Parallel API key?

Yes. Store it with a management key and requests to parallel/basic are made with your key and billed by Parallel directly. The first 1,000,000 such requests a month carry no Mux fee.

What happens if Parallel is down?

If you pinned parallel/basic the request fails and you are refunded. If you passed a models list, Mux refunds the failed attempt and tries the next model in your list, so your agent still gets an answer.
